CYPRUS - How to travel to Cyprus by airplane
or boat.
Getting
to the island of Cyprus by air
Getting to Cyprus is easier than ever. More than 33 scheduled and charter
airlines, including Cyprus Airways and Eurocypria, operate scheduled
flights from and to Larnaca International Airport
(Larnaca airport is situated 5 kms from Larnaca town centre) and Paphos
International Airport (Paphos airport is situated 15 kms east
of Paphos town centre)
Getting
to the island of Cyprus by sea
It used to be easy to travel to Cyprus by train and ship via Athens,
and then using one of regular shipping lines from Athens Piraeus port
to Limassol. However, all three services stopped running indefinitely
around 2001.
However, Louis Cruise Lines sail from Piraeus
to Cyprus every week from June to September. It is possible to apply
through Louis cruise lines for a fare to and from Cyprus
Other sea routes to and from Cyprus worth considering
As the crossroads of the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus can also be a
great component of a Middle East adventure that combines a visit to
the island with Israel, Egypt or nearby Greek islands such as Rhodes,
Crete and more.
Short cruises to these destinations and even seasonal longer cruises
further away to other European countries are a popular option for many
visitors to Cyprus
